How cool that Tolkien's birthday is STILL being celebrated by those nerdy enough to care? Today is just a day to give a nod of thanks to the great man who gave us:
Happy Birthday, Tolkien! Thank you for the stories!
You know, I'd completely forgotten about Mr. Bliss. I want to read it again! Oh, and Farm Giles of Ham is sooo good. One of my favorite Tolkin books, actually. :D Yes, Happy Birthday, Mr. Tolkin!
Wow, I feel so speshul. You left me a comment!! I know, I was looking up all these books of his, and I really wanted to read all his children's stories again. Roverandom, Mr. Bliss, the Father Christmas Letters... and Leaf by Niggle, which isn't exactly a children's story, but is absolutely beautiful to read, anyway. As is The Smith Of Wootton Major.

DeleteI think Mr. Bliss might be the only Tolkien book which I do not own :-) I read Farmer Giles and Smith of Wootton Major yesterday.
ReplyDeleteDo you own Beastly Verse? I never knew that!!!
DeleteThere are so many of his I didn't know about. Thanks for sharing them, Cat!
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome, Claudine! He gave us so many stories. I love them.
DeleteVery cool, indeed!
ReplyDeleteIsn't it, though? I love how he can switch between his adult books, and his children's books.
DeleteHappy Birthday, to him!!!
