Summer Solstice

It's probably just me, but I find it very hard to already be celebrating the longest day of the year when my little city has only experienced about a week-and-a-half of Sprummer. How rude is that?

Oh well. At least it's finally stopped snowing, so that's something good, and the weather has been (so far!) remaining in a nice, warm season. Let's hope it continues!

So, why is today the longest day?

Well, I would have done a much more thorough post, but I had to help a sister with computer issues. So instead, I shall simply direct you to some sites that explain what the solstice is all about.

Happy reading! God bless!

  3. Thanks for the links. I just read that without the Earth tilting on it's axis we would have no seasons. So why are you still stuck in the same old season? LOL

  4. I had to work, Kelly, but I still enjoyed the longest day.

Michelle, where are you from? Australia? New Zealand? It's so bizarre to think that you're heading into your winter season whilst we're FINALLY getting into our warm season!

Desert, I dunno. I do feel like I'm stuck in the same-old, same-old. LOL!

  5. Cat, I like knowing we've passed the longest day because we're that much closer to fall. I love fall! I might feel differently if I lived somewhere like you where you've just had the last snowfall. How long is your warm season?

  6. Ellen, usually our Summer starts the first week or so of June. This year, however, our first week didn't start until mid-June, and we were having snow up to that point.

After the SUmmer starts, it can last anywhere from the end of August (though we had a year where Summer started beginning of July and ENDED end of July!!) to the end of September. It varies, and it is very short... but beautiful. :)

  7. Sprummer...love it! I know you don't live close to me, but we have had a very similar experience when it comes to this year's climate. Planted the garden three weeks later this year!

I just can't believe that half of the year is over. But I've been having a lot of fun this year, so I guess that's why time flies, cold or hot.

I do love fall too - but I'm in no rush to welcome it this year. I'd rather have fall begin late, and end late, shortening the life of winter...which is our longest season up here!

See my comment box? Want to know a secret?

*whispers* It's actually a TARDIS comment box! If you write long enough, you'll see... it's bigger on the inside!

Isn't that cool?

Now that you know that, aren't you going to throw a comment in there? You KNOW you want to. :)
